First MAC lipstick!

I finally have my first MAC lipstick, yipee! For the past few weeks I've been chattering away to my boyfriend about lipsticks and lipglosses, never thinking he'd actually been listening. Then on Friday when he arrived back from work he surprised me with Blankety! I was impressed that not only had he been listening to me bore him with makeup talk, but he'd actually remembered the name of the lipstick I really wanted! The shade is gorgeous, a perfect mauvy nude colour. The consistency is lovely too, creamy and soft. It's a perfect first MAC lipstick for me and I hope to buy many more in the future!

Natural High face scrub

I've wanted a basic face scrub for a while, bit without spending too much. Whilst browsing Superdrug, I found this product:

The brand is Natural High, which is a Superdrug own brand. It cost around £2.20, bargain! The main draw for me was the smell, it's lovely. A soft, apricot scent. When I got my boyfriend to try it he wanted to eat it cos it smelled so good! It contains apricot kernel oil (like the Soap & Glory scrub), apricot seed, walnut shell and almond oil. I always test scrubs on the back of my hand to see if they are grainy enough. This one contains quite large grains, but not densely concentrated like a body scrub, which is just what I want in a face scrub as the skin on the face is more delicate than skin on the body. This is a great bargain buy which I'd definitely recommend, it left my face feeling soft, smooth and exfoliated, with a lingering scent. Perfect for such a low price!

Body Brushing

I'd heard in magazines that dry body brushing can get rid of cellulite. I think it's based on the premise that it helps circulation and moves/breaks down little clumps of fat that have gathered together. As my diet mainly consists of Nik Naks, Monster Munch and Kit Kats and I am too lazy to exercise, I thought I'd give this a try! I got my brush from Superdrug, it was probably about £3 but I can't really remember as I bought it a while ago. It has a little strap so you can slip it on your hand and get down to business!
This had been lying around for a while as I forgot/couldn't be bothered to use it so I thought I'd use it twice a day for a month or so and see if there's any difference. So far I just know that it makes my skin really smooth and helps get rid of the little bumps at the back of my arms (the annoying little things!). My boyfriend teases me whenever I get this thing out and calls it a horse brush but ho hum, if it works it works!

Soap & Glory: Peachy Cream & Scrub Actually Review

I am desperately trying to avoid writing my analysis for my dissertation so I decided to review some products instead! Here are two Soap & Glory products I got as gifts; Peachy Cream Big Butter and Scrub Actually.

First of all, I love the packaging. Very girly, retro and pretty! I adore this body butter. It smells divine!! It reminds me a bit of Benefit's Bathina, 'Touch me then try to leave' cream. I've wanted the Benefit one forever, but seeing as it costs over £20, I've never bought it. So I'm glad to have found a body butter that smells equally delicious! The cream itself is very thick but spreads easily and absorbs quickly. The gorgeous smell lingers for hours and my skin was left feeling very soft and silky, which must be due to the ingredients as it contains shea butter, peach oil, cocoa butter, beeswax and 'fruit acid skin-smoothers' (not sure what they are!) So overall, I love this product, it's my favourite body butter by far, and more affordable than the likes of brands such as Benefit and The Body Shop, which I have always lusted after but never bought!

Next is the Scrub Actually body scrub. This contains kukui oil (?), mango butter and vitamin E to moisturise, and brown sugar, white sugar and apricot kernel oil to buff the skin. This also smells great, but is not as highly perfumed as the body butter. The scrub itself is pink and very densely concentrated with sugar. A little goes a long way so I can see this lasting for a while. As this is basically just made of suger, it's a great exfoliator as you can really feel the large grains, which I like as then I think it's working! So in future I'll be using this before I apply fake tan. So another lovely product from Soap & Glory!

NYX Eyeshadow Trio

My boyfriend and I went shopping in Leicester on Saturday, and I was in my element in Highcross shopping centre! It is so big, with all sorts of gorgeous shops. I was so excited when we went into House of Fraser and the first thing I saw was an NYX counter! I spent ages browsing all the different products, but in the end I just settled for a trio of neutral eyeshadows. They had been reduced down to about £5. I did want to also buy their contour brush to replace my awful ELF one, but unfortunately they had sold out. I was very impressed with the packaging, very sleek and stylish. Their lipglosses were lovely too so I'll definitely be making a return trip!

I also bought some rings whilst I was in Highcross. I've never really been a ring wearer, but I saw these and had to have them!

The one on the left was £5 from Dorothy Perkins, I loved the coral colour and thought this would look great over the summer with a tan! The one on the right was £4 from Peacocks, I thought the bow shape was sweet and the sparkles look great on a night out!
