Barry M VIP Event

I'll keep this short and sweet as I know a lot of other people have already written about the Barry M Event. Overall it was a really lovely day. Everybody was so friendly and there was a really great atmosphere amongst us all. Sadly the time flew by and I didn't get to meet everybody, so I'm hoping there will be another event over summer.

Upon entering the club it was like being transported into a surreal wonderland, the first things I saw being a gigantic tranny dressed in a tutu and a camera filming my entrance! There were gorgeous cupcakes on display as well as cocktails and sweeties.

There were a few presentations informing us of upcoming Barry M plans, the one that stood out to me most being that Barry M are soon to launch The M Club, which sounds like a fantastic idea. It will be a networking site where all the things us makeupaholics love and use on a regular basis, such as twitter, blogspot, youtube etc are combined into one place. This sounds ideal for me, as I'm used to having to navigate between a number of tabs at the top of the screen! Below are a few photo's from the event, thank you to Jonathan for them!

With the man himself! Does anyone else think he looks a bit like Bob Hoskins?!

Me and Holly having a good rummage in our goodie bags like little girls at Christmas! How happy am I?!

With Holly and Holly

The freebies!

Thank you so much to Barry M for being so generous with the goodie bag and holding such an enjoyable event, it was a great day!

Boohoo Loving

I'm currently distracting myself from coursework and revision by searching through clothes websites. I've found some lovely things on the Boohoo website and thought I'd share them with you all.
I've wanted a long cardy for a so long but they seem to be sold out almost everywhere and Boohoo is no exception. This is the only colour left in my size, so I'm tempted to buy it.

I'm not a scarf person but I'm loving the colours in this one.

These are a replica of the very popular Topshop shoes that retailed at about £75. These are £25! Also available in black.

I love floral prints at the moment. This skirt looks lovely and fresh for summer.

Not from Boohoo, but a Motel dress from ASOS, I thought I'd include it as it's pink and floral like the other items, so pretty!

So I think Boohoo has some really lovely items for a very reasonable price. What does everybody else think about Boohoo?

TAG: Getting To Know You, Getting To Know Me

Do you have any nicknames?
Poppet bear, angel, cupcake, angel cake
Apart from the obvious make up / beauty hobby, what other hobbies do you have?
I love reading. I've had my head in a book since I was a child and adore being transported to another world. I like to draw. I only use pencil and I only really draw portraits (of any random face in a magazine that takes my fancy) but I don't do so very often because I really need to be in the right mood for it. I'd love to be able to paint, its such a talent. I can stare at paintings for a long, long time and just marvel at the skill behind it. I also enjoy writing and have done since I was little. I wrote my first story at 7 and that's pretty much how I spent my spare time until I was about 12. I also wrote a 'newspaper' at 9 and sold it around the school playground. Great times!

What do you do?
I'm doing a degree in Communication & Media Studies but I am soon to finish, *sob*!

What would you like to do?
There are so many things I'd love to do, I don't know how I'm going to choose. I'd love to be an author, a beauty editor, to work in PR and Marketing, become a kindergarten (I can't think of the English alternative, is it preschool?) teacher, set up my own business and get into property development.

Tell us something embarrassing, but that you love doing?
Playing The Sims. I love this game and could spend hours on it! I haven't actually played it for a few years though because I no longer have a desktop PC. That's probably a good thing.

Tell us a little something that we don't already know about you
I'm very much into feminism and it's something I'm very passionate about. It's an interest that has only developed over the past year, coinciding with the onset of my dissertation which explored female perceptions of images of women in lads' mags. Although recently I have not immersed myself so much in it as I do find a lot of what I read to be very upsetting and disturbing, and it leaves me feeling sad. The misogyny that seeps into everyday society is shocking. It bothers me how a lot of people, including women, still have this age-old stereotype that feminists are fat, ugly, hairy, man hating lesbians who don't wear makeup. Or those who believe feminism is a bad thing. I believe feminism should be embraced because without it, women wouldn't have the vote, be able to go to university, get paid the same as men, have high positions in the work place, wouldn't be able to keep a job if they got pregnant, let alone get paid maternity leave place etc etc. I'll leave it there, I could go on about this topic all day!

On a lighter note, I am super maternal. I actually can't remember I time when I wasn't broody. This is another embarrassing thing about me, if I see a cute baby or child when I'm out and about, I get a bit teary, they are just so sweet and lovely. My boyfriend and I can't wait to start a family (although realistically we are going to wait quite a few years because we want to travel, get married, buy a house and settle down with careers first). I get all emotional when I think of him holding a little us on his chest. I am so soppy, I know.

What achievement are you most proud of?
When I went to get my A Level results and discovered I'd got 100% in one of my English Literature modules (I think it was Texts in Time for anyone interested, I vaguely remember it being about Othello and Keats' poems) and 100% in a Business Studies module. I'm still not quite sure how it happened.

What do you most like about yourself?
I'm very compassionate. I wasn't really aware of it until I met my boyfriend and he told me it's one of the things he really loves about me. Body wise, I most like my legs, they're very long.

What would you change about yourself if you could?
Physically, my middle section. Generally I'm very happy with my body, but because of my extreme laziness and poor diet, my waist is not as small as I'd like. I think a 23" waist will remain something of my dreams. Personality wise, when I get angry, frustrated or passionate, for some reason, it's coupled with the the overwhelming urge to cry! This means I can't speak to retaliate, because I would burst into tears! So I just have to remain silent and then spend the next two days thinking of all the super comebacks I could have used.

I'd also change my lack of ability to concentrate. Since forever, I've really struggled with homework, coursework and exams, because I just can't focus and concentrate, resulting in the revision/essay being the night before or the day of the hand in date when I literally have to do it. It's such a problem I think is surpasses what you would consider normal so I've considered going to the doctor about it, but I've always changed my mind because I think it would sound silly.

If you could have anything in the world (that doesn't cost any money), what would you want?
Love, and I am so thankful I have it in my life. I feel so blessed to have found someone I want to share my life with and who makes me so happy. I have never met anybody more lovely and who I'm so compatible with. He is the man I thought I'd never meet but was fortunate enough to find. Ok, I don't want to make anybody sick with me being so in love so I'll stop now! I also want all my loved ones and future children to have good health.

Makeup Storage

At last I have organised my makeup and no longer have to look at the clutter that previously occupied my 'dressing table.' I'd desperately wanted the Laura Ashley drawer set but saw that it was sold out online and not available in my local WHSmiths (the assistant I asked looked like she hadn't even heard of Laura Ashley). However, on a shopping trip to Leicester I managed to find one. The store also had some kind of discount on so it was reduced down to £13, so overall a good day!

It's so lovely to have a separate drawer for lips, eyes, face etc. I actually just enjoy opening the drawers and having a look at everything placed neatly inside, simple pleasures! I also recently bought these sweet little cases;
I found them in a local shop. I think it would be classed as a charity shop but at the front of the store they sell brand new items like these cases, bits of furniture, lamps etc, it's all a bit random! I love the pink candy stripes and the detailing of the hats. I may add makeup to these in the future, but for the time being my drawer is big enough to hold my collection so perhaps when I expand these will get some use. For now I just enjoy them looking pretty!
