Hair Dye: L'Oreal Excell 10

I've dabbled with quite a few hair dyes over the years. In my late teens I developed a penchant for purple hair (why?!), then I got into reds and auburn's. Now I've realised I prefer just being a basic brunette.

The problem I have with my hair is that with time and increased sun exposure, my hair turns a wishy-washy gingery colour. I've experimented with a few darker shades in the past and they made my hair appear black so I was cautious when trying to dye my hair just a couple of shade lighter. I've now found the perfect shade after years of searching. Introducing L'Oreals Excell 10 in Spiced Chocolate...

This shade transforms my hair colour from this...

to this...

The perfect brunette shade for me; a deep brown that still has red, blonde and copper tones when in the sunlight. The comb makes it quick and easy to apply, the whole process is done in a jiffy! Usually I get someone to help me dye my hair, but the comb makes it so simple I can do it myself. The deep conditioner that comes with the dye smells amazing and leaves my hair so incredibly soft, I've never felt anything like it! It's a good size too so there's enough product for an intensive treat for your hair every few washes. I also find that after dyeing my hair it feels thicker and looks more shiny, bonus!

Do you dye your hair yourself? What's your favourite brand?

  1. I have been thinking about trying a redish toned brown dye, wasnt sure which one to look for though, but this looks really nice yet subtle too! Usually i just use a semi permenant dark brown dye from Garnier which works well enough but im always tempted to try new brands!

It's so hard finding a nice warm brown that doesnt' turn your hair black...I think I may be sticking with this one for a while :)

  7. I've been dying my hair since I was about 16... Some would say I was a bit of a Goth lol! I had purple, pink, red, black, blue.. oh dear! My hair was pretty wrecked.. I'm so thankful of the 10 minute ones now, much nicer to my poor abused hair :p

I have never tried the spiced chocolate, looks lovely on you though xx

  8. I'm terrified of dying my hair at home - I have blonde highlights and wouldn't dare attempt it myself! Yours looks gorgeous, that dark colour really suits you.

  9. When I went from blonde highlights back to my natural colour I used this dye but in 6.0 natural light brown and it came out the perfect medium brown colour. I was impressed with the formula x

  12. Hey. The color looks really nice. I recently bought this dye after wanting a reddish brown look. Like a mahogany color. I used to use Loreal Paris Casting creme gloss mahogany but it's semi perminant! I'm scared to use it. Should I just dye it or get a perminant mohogony dye?! Help xx

  13. I have always used Nice and Easy, a variety of shades over the years. I settled the past year on 117 Natural Medium Golden Brown - it comes out quite dark on me with lovely red tones but does fade quickly.

I've always liked the results I get fron N & E, very soft hair, but recently I I've grown fed up of the waiting time so, having seen your blog Amy, I'm trying this one. I'll let you know the results.
