As mentioned in my earlier post, my fiancé and I have developed a love for candles. Here are some of my favourite scented candles...
Lily Flame:
I only discovered these last year when they appeared on a wedding gift list. I investigated by going to John Lewis and spent an age sniffing each individual candle in turn. At around £8 each, I think they are quite pricey (especially when I liked so many of the scents!), but then the tins are so lovely and the scents are so divine I think it’s worth it. We currently have 3 in our collection...
1. Fairy Dust
2. Blush
Another girly scent but more subtle and less sweet than Fairy Dust. I love the baby pink colour of the wax.
3. Mellow Figs & Garden Mint
This is a lovely fresh scent for the bedroom. The mint isn't distinctive, it mixes with the fig to create a light, airy, clean-smelling scent!
Laura Ashley - Rose : £10
Really the box is what attracted me to this candle. With a gorgeous dusky pink satin box and a bow, I thought this would look lovely on my dressing table (when we eventually buy one!) Inside was a delightful find. This deliciously scented candle is carved in the shape of a rose with a little butterfly on top, lovely!
Orla Kiely – White Tea : £25.00
Next I’m keen to try a Yankee candle. I love the glass jars they come in, it’s always a bonus having a candle in some packaging you’d like to keep afterwards. Any recommendations for particular fragrances I should consider?
What are your favourite scented candles?
The packaging is gorgeous! I love candles too.. my favorite scents are gardenia, magnolia and fresh cut grass (: I like some sweet scents too, but I'm really selective about them
ReplyDeleteI ordered a Yankee Candle online last week and it arrived a couple of days ago - wasn't really impressed with the online service as they didn't send me an email saying my order had been dispatched or anything!
ReplyDeleteI bought 'Vanilla Cupcake' in the smallest jar for just under £8. It smells more like popcorn to me as opposed to a freshly baked smell so I would definately recommend buying them from a store in person so you can smell before you buy!
I bought a car airfreshener in the same fragrance - it still smells popcorny but for just under £2.00 I think they're a good buy! Especially as the scents are completely different from other car fresheners I've seen and smelt!
xx
Lily flame are my absolute favourite, i have quite a few of them! Blush is burning in my bedroom as i type this! xxx
ReplyDeleteI bought Vanilla Cupcake and have an entirely different viewpoint to the comment above. I guess everyone is different!
ReplyDeleteDelivery was quick considering it was 'standard' and Vanilla Cupcake smells just divine! A really sweet scent that is so good you could eat it!
Fresh Linen is also a good scent to try if you prefer fresh and clean scents.
A tip is that if you buy a Lidded Tumbler Candle instead of a small Jar Candle, it costs the same price but you get double the amount of candle inside! :D

I have a huge huge weakness for candles.... I love the Lily Flame ones (blue hyacinth is my favourite, the scent is divine & just like a real hyacinth!) but you can't beat Yankee candles! My favourites are fresh cut roses & early sunrise.... pretty colours too!
ReplyDeletei have a really pretty vanilla candle with pastel flowers all up it, i think it is from laura ashley :) i totally share your love of candles... x
ReplyDeleteI adore Vanilla Cupcake from Yankee it smells divine just like a freshly baked cupcake one of my fave scents. I suppose everyone has different views and what smells they like though :) My fav was chocolate chip cookie which they have now discontiuned and i still haven;t found anything nearly the same as that scent it was mouth watering yummy and i could smell it all day without adding pounds on the waist line ;) x
ReplyDeleteI love the Lily Flame candles! I myself have Chocolate Truffle which is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteIf you want a very sweet yet a cheap candle I recommend Jelly Belly (yes the Jelly beans people!) I have toasted marshmallow which smells lush!
I am definitely going to look into the Yankee candles, reviews seem positive... Thanks! :)

Love your blog, I'm a new follower! I have a yankee candle in sun & sand and it is the best most comforting smell in the universe...smells just like a warm day at the beach :) xx
ReplyDeleteI am a Yankee Candle fan but I bought a couple of the Lily Flame candles after reading this blog. I love fig anyway (thanks to Jo Malone, I have both the fragrance and candle of Wild Fig and Cassis) and this one is really nice. I also bought Blue Hyacinth (gorgeous and very true to life) and Fairy Dust (very girly).
ReplyDeleteThe Lily Flame scents are nice but nowhere near as strong as Yankee Candles once lit but I suppose they will be good for smaller rooms or more personal fragrance, such as next to where you are sat, rather than to scent a hole room.
Has anyone else found that?
Has anyone tried 'our own candle company?' they're brilliant.
