Guest Post: Tracy Anderson Method - Mat Workout

Today's guest post is brought to you by Jay from www.happytinsoldier.blogspot.com

2 months ago I was on a mission to lose all the weight I put on whilst travelling. I spent the first month power walking pretty much on a daily basis for an hour before moving onto 45 minutes of Davina Fit (30 minutes of Aerobic Fit & 15 minutes of Yoga Stretch) without noticing any real result and a disappointing loss of 2 lbs. I then came across Tracy Anderson - the name might ring a bell to you but if you can't remember where you've heard of it, well, she is best known for helping Gwyneth Paltrow drop 20 lbs after the birth of her son & giving the likes of Shakira, Nicole Richie and J-Lo that fabulous body. After reading reviews on Amazon for the Tracy Anderson Mat Workout DVD, I decided to give it a go. I wanted to see how much truth there is when she says it's possible for everyone to have a teeny tiny dancers body. She recommends working out 5-6 times a week which I DEFINITELY struggled to keep with and imagine most people would too, I averaged at a more realistic 3-4 times a week.

I can tell you that within a month, I lost all the weight I gained - all 7 lbs of it and more, all thanks to this one hour workout (along with a healthy diet). I'd catch myself in the mirror wondering since when did my arms became smaller. Or is it just an illusion? Clothes that was snug felt loose. There is no doubt that this was all thanks to Tracy and her amazing method. Here is Tracy herself introducing her method:

This workout is no doubt hardcore. It's not a sweaty workout, more an intense toning workout. There is 7 sections each lasting about 5-10 minutes . One of them is the standing arm exercise. At first I thought how difficult can this be especially since it is done without weights. How wrong was I! It's more difficult than working my arms with the weights! In some reviews I read on Amazon, Tracy is criticised for her lack of instructions and appalling counting/repetition but I found her choice of background music helped counting and after a few sessions you get the general gist of when to change sides to repeat.

If you are looking to shape up for an occasion or just to get back into a healthy lifestyle, look no further. Give this a good go and realllly try to stick with it and see the results yourself. It's hard work, but it's really worth it. It definitely is difficult to start but you'll be amazed how quick it gets easier and easier as your body tones and become more flexible. Now I no longer see it as a 'chore', I look forward to spending an hour every other day with this workout and hopefully achieve the teeny tiny dancer body soon! Righty ho, time to find a dress to wear to Amy's big day! Not long to go now, im so excited :)

  2. Wow that sounds really interesting. Now indeed I don't know how anybody could work 5-6 times a week when having a full time job and a household to take care of but well, every bit helps so a couple of times is better than nothing!

  8. So glad you posted about this dvd! I had been trying the 30 day shred, but it put way too much strain on my knees so had stopped doing it. Got this about a week ago and totally love it! Have done it 5 times so far and have already started to notice small changes and feel more toned, so thanks for discovering it :)

I use something similar - www.beachbody.co.uk . It is, I think, even more hardcore than Tracy Anderson's, but it really works if you stick to the routine and the schedule.
