Our Weekend in London

Back when it was Christmas (doesn't it feel like a lifetime ago?!) Matt and I received an amazing present from my brother - tickets to see Matilda. We're huge fans of the book and film so we were so excited to see how it would be interpreted as a musical. We decided to make a weekend of it and headed down to London on Saturday. After arriving at midday and checking in our bags at our hotel, we decided to feast on a big lunch before doing a spot of shopping. We popped into the usual suspects - Selfridges, Topshop (can you believe I actually saw someone wearing those monkey shoes!) and All Saints, and I couldn't resist having a peek at the new Forever 21 store although I was slightly underwhelmed by what they had on offer.

Sunday morning began with breakfast at The Diner, an American style restaurant I'd heard offered amazing pancakes and hash browns (two of my favourite things!) The milkshakes were also incredible - delicious, creamy and huge. We began with Eggs Benedict and Breakfast Burritos and finished off with a stack of blueberry pancakes ladled with maple syrup - yum! It was the first (and hopefully last!) time breakfast has cost close to £40, but it was a unique experience and kept us full until evening.

We then headed off to Mulberry, as after much encouragement from my Twitter followers, I'd been persuaded to invest in one of their beautiful purses. I took the plunge and bought the classic Continental Wallet in a soft blush pink leather with rose gold hardware. It's a thing of beauty and I can't wait to organise it! The above photo shows a quick glimpse but I shall indulge in a more detailed post soon.

With my Mulberry gift bag in hand, we made our way to the intimate Cambridge Theatre for Matilda which was simply magical. The cast was amazing, the songs fun and catchy (we came out humming them!) and the adaptation was perfect. We particularly loved Miss Trunchball who was given a comical and camp twist by Bertie  Carvel. I would watch it all over again tomorrow if I could! Overall it was a really lovely weekend full of fun and laughter and we're now pondering over plans for the Easter holidays!

  13. Looks like such an amazing weekend, I went to the Cambridge Theatre last summer to see Chicago which was fantastic, plus we're going back in May but this time to see the Phantom of the Opera, I cannot wait.

The purse is absolutely gorgeous, I keep asking for one for my birthday but I don't think I'll be that lucky :(.

  15. Sounds like an amazing weekend! I wish so badly we had a Topshop here in Seattle, WA. I love All Saints but it's so expensive! They have gorgeous clothes though.

I feel like this Mulberry trend is just starting to sweep through the U.S. The bags look gorg though.

It's so funny how American breakfast food is so expensive there but so cheap here! lol It did definitely look delicious though!

Thanks for sharing all of the lovely pics!
