Sleek Lash Out Mascara

There's nothing like lashings of ultra black mascara to make you feel glamorous. Sleek's new Lash Out mascara promises to lengthen and volumise lashes, so if you like your eyes dark and dramatic - this one's for you. The retro neon packaging isn’t to my personal taste, I prefer something a little more chic, but packaging doesn’t bother me in the slightest when I love what’s inside and this has fast become my new favourite mascara.

The slender, spiral nylon brush captures each and every lash for maximum coverage (even the baby ones) thanks to the narrow wand. The formula is the perfect balance between wet and dry and delivers a deep black coating, thickening the lashes without clumping. I used two coats which resulted in perfectly curled, fluttery lashes and the closest look to false lashes I’ve had using mascara. My lashes weren’t left stiff or weighed down and I definitely noticed an improvement in terms of length and volume.

Sleek Lash Out mascara easily lasts a full day without smudging or flaking yet it’s also easily removable, so no scrubbing or tugging at the delicate eye area is required. In a nutshell, this is the kind of mascara I’ve been searching for years and I’ve finally found it! Volume, length, intensity, fluttery-ness – it’s got it all!

Sleek Lash Out Mascara is priced at £6.99 and is available to buy from Superdrug

Love Python Print Wrap Dress

I have a bit of a thing for wrap dresses. I have an hourglass figure so I often struggle with dresses, finding they can fit at the waist but are too tight on the bust and hips, or vice versa. Wrap dresses are the perfect solution, nipping in at the waist, having enough room at the bust and skimming over the hips. I spotted this dress on the Love website (amazing for wrap dresses) and although I loved it, I thought £38 was on the pricey side for a simple chiffon dress, so I was delighted when a couple of weeks later I was notified of a half price promo. It's lightweight, simple to style and I love the snake print. I paired it with all black - leather jacker, belt, tights, platforms and Illamasqua Scorn nail polish. The only problem is now I want to stock up dresses from Love, especially this peach wrap dress (perfect for spring) and this wine coloured dress. Hell, I just want all of them! Are you a fan of wrap dresses?

Life in Instagram

My new ultra girly dress from ASOS, a few of the goodies that arrived in the post last week, my Whooga boots which have been a saviour after I blistered my feet traipsing around LFW, a selection of pastel jeans from River Island (which to choose?!) Prezzo with the family for my parent's wedding 35th anniversary: my delicious bruschetta starter (taking a picture caused much amusement for my brothers - they clearly don't understand the world of Instagram and blogging!) a whiskey & wine bar in Cheltenham and shots together after the siblings continued the night out and partied 'til 4am. Shame I can't remember most of it!

London Fashion Week

I had my first taste of London Fashion Week this week when I headed off there on Monday. It's a strange surreal world where it seems the more freakishly you dress, the more fashionable you are deemed. Who knew I would feel the odd one out as I wasn't decked out in bizarre combinations of colours and clothes which resembled my uni's bad taste fancy dress nights a little too closely! Although peculiar, it was still enjoyable to see all sorts of weird and wonderful outfits I'd never otherwise see.

The highlight of the day was popping in to the luxurious 5 star hotel One Aldwych where Handpicked Media had filled a suite with all sorts of gorgeous goodies. The ladies from Ted's Beauty Spot were on hand offering manicures, threading and eyelash extensions, and the PR team for Ted Baker gave a sneak peek of their new range of clothing, including the beautiful white embellished dress above.

I opted for a Shellac manicure in a peachy nude colour and I can see why so many people are a fan. Ultra glossy and long wearing, shellac is the ultimate manicure. I would have loved to have tried eyelash extensions but it would have meant removing all my eye makeup and as I hadn't brought any with me, it was a no go. Instead I tried threading - another beauty ritual I'd been keen to try for some time. I'm a huge fan of the result and if I can find somewhere affordable and local, this shall become my one regular beauty treatment. It achieves a level of precision you just can't obtain with tweezers, giving an ultra smooth, polished finish to the brows.

I went away with a very generous goody bag, which included the very same Ted Baker laptop case I'd been eyeing up in House of Fraser just the previous week! Overall it was a fantastic (albeit exhausting) day which gave me an insight into the fabulous world of fashion.

Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick - Baby Pink

Is this not the most beautiful baby pink lipstick you've ever seen? The appropriately named Baby Pink is one of four new shades to grace the Clarins signature lipstick collection. Part of the new Colour Breeze Spring Makeup Collection, this pale pink delivers a perfect posy pout. I adore how luxurious the packaging looks and feels - everything from the weighty, silver tube to the Clarins logo embossed on the lipstick gives an air of opulence. It makes using a lipstick all the more enjoyable when it's encased in something that looks divine!

The colour is on the sheer side so a good few swipes are required before the shade becomes noticeable on the lips. The formula contains mango butter and vitamin E to help moisturise and protect, which is just what you need in this cold weather when lips tend to suffer. The lipstick contains tiny micro shimmer particles which adds to the plumping effect. The only downside to this beautiful baby pink lipstick is that it's slightly gritty to apply due to the shimmery glitter that runs throughout it. All is forgiven though as I love the colour!

Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick is price at £17.00 and is available to buy from BootsDebenhams and feelunique.com

The Manor House Hotel

I'm rather late in posting this but it was such a lovely weekend away I couldn't resist blogging about it. December began in a wonderful way, first with my brother's winter wedding where I was a bridesmaid and then the very next day it was my birthday. As I got in the passenger seat of our car to make the journey from London back to Nottingham (upon which I promptly fell asleep after the late night we'd had dancing with the newly weds!) I was expecting to end up in our hometown. Little did I know Matt had planned a birthday surprise for me and had booked us a weekend away at the glorious Manor House Hotel in the Cotswolds.

Situated in Wiltshire on the outskirts of Bath, the hotel lies within Castle Combe - a beautiful chocolate box village which has remained untouched since the 17th Century, steeped in history with quaint homes and shops dotted about.
What I really loved about the Hotel was the location of the rooms in the Mews Cottages - a row of 14th Century cottages all with their own individual features and names. It's such a lovely way to integrate guests into the quaint village and give them an experience of what life would be like as a resident whilst creating a homely atmosphere. It was a beautifully sunny day so we took a leisurely stroll around the 365 acres of garden and woodland before heading back to our cottage room where we indulged in a bubble bath (made all the more enjoyable with a TV built into the wall), wrapped up in cosy robes and settled down with room service in the huge bed.

It was the little touches which made the stay extra special - a little teddy to pop outside your door if you didn't want to be disturbed, a doorbell (the original kind with an actual tinkling little bell!) and even a pillow menu where you could choose how plump and firm you preferred your pillow, what it was filled with and even an option for a lavender scented pillow to induce a sleepy slumber!

After a cosy, deep sleep and a scrumptious breakfast where we feasted on eggs benedict, delicate pastries and croissants, we headed into Bath for a spot of Christmas shopping in the German markets. There was a suitably festive atmosphere with Christmas carols being sung by a choir, so we took our time
wandering around the stalls and browsing the lovely handmade goods on offer whilst snacking on freshly roasted caramelised nuts.

It was such a wonderful birthday treat and it gave me the first opportunity to experiment with my new iPhone 4S (one of my lovely birthday presents) so I got snap-happy and all of the shots above were taken with the very impressive camera. I didn't realise phone cameras could produce such incredible pictures!

I highly recommend The Manor House Hotel for a romantic weekend away. Not only is it set within the breathtakingly beautiful Cotswolds, the grounds, hotel and cottages are exquisite, the staff friendly and attentive and the food is divine (the Michelin Starred Bybrook Restaurant won 'Wiltshire Restaurant of the Year). I also couldn't help thinking it would make a fantastic venue for a wedding! I would love to return to the country retreat again, perhaps in Summer when we could enjoy some al fresco dining or afternoon tea on the lawn.
