Palmer's Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Body Lotion

I thought I should dedicate a post to my current favourite beauty product...Palmer's Natural Bronze Body Lotion. As I have incredibly fair skin, I'm always on the quest for the perfect fake tan. My natural complexion means that in order to achieve the colour most people are naturally, I need to fake tan, so I look for an ultra deep and dark fake tan which me allows me to achieve this with just one application.

I have tried a multitude of fake tans... St Tropez, Xen Tan, Vita Liberata and Garnier and to name a few - and none of them have left a lasting impression. L'Oreal Sublime Bronze had been a favourite, delivering the colour I coveted, but it had it's disadvantages - being full of shimmer, having a scent that stung my eyes and remaining sticky for a good while afterwards. Then last week I tried Palmer's Natural Bronze Body Lotion and I think it may have just exceeded all others and taken the crown of favourite fake tan, with a price tag of just £5.35.

Palmer's Natural Bronze is a light lotion formula which absorbs quickly and leaves my skin soft and silky thanks to the cocoa butter which moisturises skin. There's no colour guide, so I don't need to be ultra cautious about what clothes I put on afterwards, and I can still open the door to the postman without shocking him! The scent is pleasant, with my husband commenting on how good I smelled (I usually get the - 'you smell dirty/like a biscuit' when I apply fake tan!) and it isn't at all sticky or heavy on my skin.

I left this on overnight to work its magic and I was surprised the next morning when I washed off the tan and a lovely golden colour remained. Considering Palmer's Natural Bronze is marketed as a gradual tan, I was impressed to find it had given me such a gorgeous tint in just one application. To really put it to the test, I applied it again the following day and I was pleased to discover it had given me the natural sun-kissed tan I've always coveted, as if I'd just returned from holiday. This will be perfect for use in the summer when I need a boost of colour before I get my legs out!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze definitely has my vote when it comes to ease of use and the natural colour achieved. Keep a look out in Boots for offers, I bought two of these bottles when they were recently half price.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze is priced at £5.35 and is available to buy from Boots and Superdrug

Little Loves Lately

January always feels like a never-ending month. Here are a few things which have made the first month of the new year that bit more bearable...

♥ I was delighted when I unwrapped The Lumineers album at Christmas, and I've been listening to it on repeat ever since. I'm tempted to buy tickets for their concert from StubHub and enjoy their music live.

♥ Scented candles are lovely all year long, but since Matt and I have started dedicating one night a week to reading in bed, I've had a chance to put away our winter candles and enjoy softer scents, such as Fairy Dust and Gardenia Rose.

♥ My perfume collection is getting progressively larger, yet I often forget to wear any. This month I've been rediscovering old favourites.

♥ I've always loved a spot of DIY, and this year even more so. I have all sorts of projects lined up which I can't wait to blog about!

♥ There are so many wonderful blogs which I enjoy reading daily. I follow hundreds so I thought it was time I organised and shared my favourites, so I created a blogroll page.

The Book Of Us - A Journal of Your Love Story

With Valentine's Day approcahing, I thought it would be the perfect time to share one of my recent purchases with you, 'The Book of Us - A Journal of your Love Story in 150 Questions.' I bought this beautiful journal late last year after stumbling across it whilst browsing Amazon. It contains 150 simple yet thoughtful questions that help record the moments of your romance - from first date to your wedding day and through the years beyond. It was lovely to open the book with Matt and reminisce about our memories together, and it's the perfect sentimental keepsake to look back on. It will be wonderful to start writing in it together and share it with our children in years to come.

Whether you fill in the answers yourself and surprise your partner with it, enjoy it together or just indulge in a heartfelt stroll down memory lane, 'The Book of Us' is a truly lovely and unique way to record and cherish your relationship. It would make the ideal gift for an Anniversary, Valentine's Day, as a Wedding gift... or simply as a poignant token of affection. A beautiful way of saying, 'I love you.'

'The Book Of Us: A Journal of Your Love Story' is priced at £8.54 and is available to buy from Amazon

Rimmel Celebrity Bash

I've been searching for the ultimate deep red nail colour for a while now, and I've finally found it! Rimmel Celebrity Bash is the perfect burgundy shade, a lovely classic colour to wear during winter. I'm always impressed by the quality of Rimmel nail polishes. Their maxi applicator brushes distribute the polish evenly and quickly, so a manicure doesn't have to take all day and you don't need to be too precise. I used two coats for the glossy colour above and after five days wear there are still no chips to be seen. For under £5 you can't go wrong!

Rimmel Celebrity Bash is priced at £4.59 and is available to buy from Boots and Superdrug

Clarins SS13 Makeup Collection

It's that time of year again when we're offered the delights of new collections. As always, Clarins have released a beautiful range of products to tempt you this spring. Inspired by the multi-coloured tones and satin feel of the beautiful Iris flower, the Clarins Spring Makeup Collection features a quartet of shimmering mineral eye shades, a signature gold face compact, the new Rouge Eclat lipsticks and a few limited edition shades.

- PR Samples -

Palette Eclat Face & Blush Powder (limited edition) £30 - Eye Quartet Mineral Palette (limited edition) £30 - Mineral Loose Powder £30 - Joli Rouge Briliant in Watermelon £17 - Gloss Prodigue in Vibrant Rose (limited edition) £15.50 - Rouge Eclat in Nude Caramel, Coral Pink, Pink Berry, Passion Red £18.50

I'm always on the hunt for the perfect face powder and I think I may just have found it with Clarins Mineral Loose Powder. Ultra-fine and lightweight, it has a velvety soft texture and leaves skin illuminated and radiant. I'm not a fan of overly matte skin so this is perfect for setting makeup and dusting away shine without taking away any luminosity.

The Palette Eclat Face and Blush Powder is a beautiful trio of fresh pink and peach tones, ideal for all skin tones. The silky smooth compact boosts complexion and gives a beautiful tone, perfect for creating a pretty spring look. The limited edition Eye Quartet Mineral Palette consists of four iridescent eye shades, which can be used wet or dry.  Each shade is super silky and easy to blend, so creating a soft smokey eye is a breeze.

Gloss Prodigue is the first Clarins lipgloss I've tried and I'm very impressed - it's a non sticky, pigmented gloss which makes lips look fuller thanks to the exclusive Clarins Maxi Lip peptide with hyaluronic acid. I love the vibrant pink shade, which can be worn alone or layered onto a lipstick.

I'm already a huge fan of Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks. They offer a deeply moisturising, creamy soft texture along with long lasting colour. The pop of colour they give is subtle and sheer, a beautiful hybrid of lipstick and lipbalm with a glossy finish. Watermelon is such a lovely shade for spring, just the right amount of colour to brighten up a makeup look.

The new Rouge Eclat lipsticks are a dream. They give an opaque sheen of colour, yet feel light to wear and keep lips nourished with Vitamin E and 100% plant waxes. I'll be featuring each of the four lovely shades I received soon so you can see how they look on the lips. Coral Pink and Passion Red are particularly lovely. I also adore the luxe packaging. What woman wouldn't love pulling one of these out of her makeup bag?

Soft Snowfall

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
- Lewis Carroll -

Matt and I recently took some time out to revel in the snow. It's not too often everything is veiled in a soft white blanket so it was lovely to enjoy it while we could. Snow is so peaceful and calming when no one else is around, it's quite magical. We walked up to the hill where everyone was engaging in a spot of sledging, we were very envious! We would have done a little ourselves except we haven't come across anywhere selling sledges yet.

I wore my trusted Hunter boots along with three pairs of socks but my feet still turned to blocks of ice. It made me wonder how some fashion bloggers manage to brave the snow for outfit photos! After a romantic stroll we headed home for some hot chocolate and wrapped up in a cosy blanket... the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Aussie Miracle Shine Shampoo & Conditioner

Aussie's Miracle Shine hair care range is billed as a dose of sunshine in a bottle, leaving your locks gorgeously glossy and radiant. Pearl powder and Australian Ginseng extract act to revitalise dull hair to give shine and vibrancy. With the amount of dyeing, backcombing and heat my hair has to handle, I'm in need of something to boost the shine. I used this for the first time last night, and my first impression was that the whole range smells incredible - fruity and fresh. My hair left was feeling clean without being weighed down and I didn't notice any fly-aways. It's too soon to notice if this has improved my hair's shine, so I'll be continuing to use the Aussie Miracle Shine range for the next 4 weeks, then reporting back with the results and my thoughts!

Aussie Miracle Shine Shampoo 300ml - £3.99
Aussie Miracle Shine Conditioner 250ml - £3.99
Aussie Miracle Shine Deep Treatment 250ml - £4.99

New Year Skincare Products

I've started the new year as I mean to go on - with a new skincare regime! These are the products I've been using lately...

Benefit Foamingly Gentle Facial Wash - £16.50

I hadn't used a face wash since I was a teenager, favouring creamy cleansers and scrubs instead, but Benefit's Facial Wash has reminded me just how lovely they can be. This is ideal when I want to quickly freshen up my face, rather than go through the rigamarole of using Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish. With a fruity and fresh scent, only a small amount is needed for a good amount of foaming, and it's really helped clear up the blemishes on my chin and leaves my skin soft and smooth. I also found it to be surprisingly impressive at removing makeup!

Benefit Remove It - £16.50

Benefit are known for their lovely packaging, and Remove It Makeup Remover is no exception, I love the glass-effect bottle paired with the cork-like lid. This gently scented remover sweeps off makeup and waterproof mascara with ease, without leaving an oily residue. It's sensitive enough to use on the eyes (essential for me as a contact lens wearer) and leaves skin fresh. The only downside is the opening, which means caution needs to be taken when pouring it onto cotton wool.

L'Occitane Shea Honey Whipped Body Cream - £16

This limited edition body cream combines nourishing shea butter with the delicious scent of honey for a sweet treat. I love the whipped texture of this body cream, it's light as air and melts into the skin, leaving it silky smooth and ever so soft. A little of this goes a long way so the price is justified, and it's perfect for the winter months - moisturising and protecting skin whilst leaving a soft and warm honey scent on the body.

This minty multi-tasking scrub is a fabulous product for my combination skin. Designed to refine large pores and prevent blemishes, it can either be used as a quick scrub or applied in a thin layer and left for 3 minutes to work as an oil-absorbing, pore cleansing mask. Ideal for sorting out my t-zone! After using this as mask, my skin is left mattified yet moisturised - I can't fault it.

Favourite Winter Candles

In winter there's nothing I love more than snuggling up with Matt under a cosy blanket, switching on one of our favourite box sets and lighting a fragrant candle. These are my top picks which see us through the winter months...

A deliciously sweet scent of apples sprinkled with sugar and vanilla, this is my all time favourite candle and reminds me of apple crumble - yum!

Holiday Traditions Apple Pie & Pumpkin Pie - £5.99
These huge jars were a bargain found in one of my favourite stores, Homesense. The Apple Pie candle gives a more savoury apple scent than Sugared Apple whilst Pumpkin Pie is a beautiful blend of warm pumpkin, ginger and nutmeg. All the comforts of baking without the fuss!

L'Occitane Candied Fruits - £13
Ideal for using over the Christmas period, Candied Fruits is a combination of flowers and dried fruits coated in honey, with a patchouli and vanilla base. A more subtle and spicy fragrance than my other picks.

Bath & Body Works Frosted Cupcake - $20
I've always been desperate to get my hands on the ever popular Bath & Body Works candles, so when Matt went to the US for a work conference last year, I sent him with a list! Frosted Cupcake fills the house with notes of vanilla bean, cake batter and rich buttercream frosting - a sweet fragrance as mouth-watering as real cupcakes!
