The Art of Relaxation

Every so often, it’s nice to take a little break from the stresses and strains of life and indulge in a little relaxation. My favourite way to unwind is to spoil myself with a spa treatment. I remember the first time I experienced the delights of a back, neck and shoulder massage when Matt treated me to a spa break for my birthday a few years ago. All tension and worry simply melted away. Since then, I’ve also experimented with a body polish and dry flotation, and I always like to follow up a treatment with a manicure. The ultimate way to feel pampered and relaxed!

For an at-home spa experience, I love to run a hot bath and add some luxurious oils. My current favourites are Neom Organic Oil and Espa Bath Elixir for providing a soothing and tranquil experience. I then follow this up by lighting a candle, snuggling under a cosy blanket and reading a good book. Most recently, I’ve been re-reading some childhood classics and delving into the enchanting worlds of The Secret Garden and A Little Princess. Letting your imagination run away with you whilst surrounding yourself with a lovely scent and you can’t help but forget your troubles!

What are your favourite ways to relax?

Sounds relaxing! I love to have a long bath with lots of bubbles and a good book. I think it's so important to take time out from everything and just treat yourself to a little time out – even if it's just half an hour every now and then.

My friend and I watched The Little Princess on Friday evening and it was amazing – so nice to revisit our childhood! The secret garden is amazing too and I'd love to read that again/watch the film.

I didn't realise it had been made into a film – I shall have to watch it! Such a great story. x

This sounds like absolute bliss! I love having a nice bath, I haven't tried the oils you mentioned, but I am a big fan of a good Lush or Weleda soak!

A Little Princess was one of my favourite books when I was younger, and I also absolutely adored the film. I bought it on DVD last year because I wanted to be able to rewatch it whenever I like! It's just magical <3

The Secret Garden was actually another favourite, I cannot count the times I went hunting for my own 'secret garden'. I was forever diving into hedges and trespassing XD

I love having a long hot bath with all my favourite products to relax and de-stress my body, but I've never actually been for any sort of professional treatment or massage. I have problems with my back and I really ought to, but usually I can't justify the price and end up treating myself to something material instead as I'd tell myself that is more 'worth while'. I always hear and read people saying how great they are and how much of a difference it can make on your mood for days afterwards, but I never usually listen. Though saying all of that, this post has really made me want to actually look into getting something done for the first time, as I think I deserve a treat, so I'm putting some money aside so I've no excuses – I want a massage! 🙂

I love a good spa treatment too, I usually go for a wrap and a shoulder/scalp massage. I've never tried dry flotation – what's it like??

If you're claustrophobic I wouldn't recommend it, I panicked a little at first! Once I'd relaxed, it was enjoyable – you're cocooned in a warm water blanket and you feel weightless, perfect for drifting off. x

Oh I so agree- I have a voucher for a facial which I MUST book, I think the stresses of a new job will make it a necessary treat! And I agree about the children's books- my favourite is Alice in Wonderland (for obvious reasons), and reading it makes me feel so relaxed 🙂 x

Your pictures are so pretty! My favourite way to relax to have a bath but do a face mask and exfoliate and everything, just really pamper myself 🙂

Nice post! Hearing the rain beating against the window when I´m snuggled up inside with a good film and huge steaming mug of hot chocolate is a favourite. In the spring I like just sitting out on my terrace on a sunny day with a glass of wine or something nice to eat, some magazines, feel the sun on my skin and passively hear the traffic going past below.

Long long time ago I used to go to a spa often but ever since I move NJ. I didn't go so my only way to relax is to read, write, sew, daydream…

This is just what I'm about to do this eve. I personally love the lavender bath oil from Neom for relaxing – it's gorgeous. My book at the mo is a training toddler book (hence lots of relaxation needed at the end of the day) lovely post x
